Carrie Helen Thomas Dranga

Carrie Helen Thomas Dranga was born in Oxford England in 1866. With her husband Theodore, Helen Dranga lived in Oakland CA from 1894 untill moving to Hawaii in 1900. There she produced watercolors and oils of the area around her home in Hilo. Her palette included the violet grays which she saw in the moisture ladden Hilo sky. In her later years she produced portraits of her Hawaiian and Chinese friends. She died in Hilo in 1940 and was buried in San Diego CA. Her works are held in the Lyman Museum in Hilo HI, the Honolulu Academy of the Arts and numerous private collections. Carrie Helen Thomas Dranga was born in Oxford England in 1866.
