Provenance: 1946 Gift from President Emanuel Roxas to Brigadier General EJ McGaw who was stationed in the Philippines after WWII and tasked with rebuilding after the war.  In 1946 Brigadier General McGaw was honored for his service with a commendation for his work.

General McGaw served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for the Army Forces in the Western Pacific from October 1945 until he was assigned to Japan in February of 1947.  McGaw retired from the military in 1961 and then died in 1972.  The painting passed by descent within McGaw's family to his grandson

A copper plate is affixed to the back of the frame indicates that the painting was a gift from the President to McGaw in 1946.
